HOW TO BE SURE THE PART IS FOR MY BIKE?
How to ensure the chosen part is suitable for your motorcycle? This is a perfectly normal — and even essential — question. Contrary to what one might think, many parts are not universal on Harley-Davidsons. A saddle, for example, might be compatible with only one specific Softail model… and not fit others. And this is the case for a huge number of parts. Result: without verification, it's easy to make a mistake. A simple solution to avoid errors At 442, we have therefore decided to simplify things by integrating a vehicle search directly on our website. The goal is simple: to allow you to find only parts compatible with your motorcycle, without risk of error. How to use the vehicle search? Here are the steps to follow: Start by selecting the year of your motorcycle→ Example: 2022 Then choose the range→ Touring, Sportster… here for example Softail Select the exact model→ Example: Low Rider ST Then access the desired parts category→ For example: Seating and luggage Then choose the collection or product type→ Here: Saddle Once these steps are validated, the displayed results correspond only to parts compatible with your motorcycle. In case of doubt Even with a precise search system, there can always be some doubt — and that's normal. In this case, you can simply contact us via the contact form available on our website. We are here to assist you and help you avoid any errors. Important to know Vehicle compatibility is based on original motorcycles. If your Harley-Davidson has undergone modifications (for example, a change in handlebar diameter, specific adaptations, or other transformations), certain parts may no longer be compatible. In this case, an additional verification is strongly recommended. In summary Choosing the right part is not just a matter of taste — it's above all a matter of compatibility. Thanks to the vehicle search, you now have a simple, quick, and reliable way to avoid making mistakes. Thank you for taking the time to read this article. Kelvin from 442

How to choose the right mount for your Harley-Davidson footpegs? When it comes to choosing footpegs for their Harley-Davidson, some riders immediately know which mount they need. But for many others, the question is worth asking. And that's perfectly normal: between the different models and technical specificities, it's easy to get lost. That's precisely why we're providing you with a simple and clear answer here. The 3 main types of mounts There are three main types of mounts for Harley-Davidson footpegs: Softail M8 rider Softail M8 passenger "Male" mount (Sportster, Dyna, FXR…) The Softail M8 rider mount This mount only concerns Softail models equipped with the Milwaukee-Eight (M8) engine, meaning from 2018 onwards. Its distinctive feature is easy to recognize: it has two "pins".It's a mount designed for the rider, with a spring system that allows the footpeg to automatically return to the open position. The Softail M8 passenger mount Still on Softail M8 models, the passenger mount is different from the rider's - and for good reason. Unlike rider footpegs, passenger footpegs must be able to remain in the closed position when not in use. This mount is therefore designed differently: It's the largest of the three It has a hole on the side This hole allows a ball to fit into it to lock the footpeg in the closed position The “male” mount This is the historical mount long used by Harley-Davidson on Sportster, Dyna, and FXR models (and sometimes on certain Touring models for the passenger). Here, the logic is different: The mount is the same for the rider and the passenger There is no spring Retention is achieved with a small metal pin This pin is placed between the footpeg mount and the motorcycle mount, allowing the footpeg to be held in the closed position. Visually, it is also the thinnest mount, with a nicely rounded shape. What about other mounts? There are other, more specific types of mounts, such as: Touring floorboards with two anchor points Certain specific models like the Fat Boy, which may have different original mounts In summary Choosing the right mount depends primarily on your Harley-Davidson model and your position (rider or passenger). If in doubt, it's always best to check or ask for advice before ordering.
